These terms describe acceptable use for Erm, Actually! They are a practical operating policy and are not legal advice.
Acceptance
By using Erm, Actually!, users and server administrators agree to use the bot responsibly and in compliance with Discord rules, Google/Gemini terms, applicable laws, and server rules.
BYOK Responsibility
The bot uses a Bring Your Own Key model.
Server administrators who run /initialise confirm that:
- They are authorized to use the submitted Gemini API key.
- They understand the key may incur billing or quota usage.
- They are responsible for Google/Gemini account standing and compliance.
- They will rotate or remove the key if it is exposed or no longer authorized.
Acceptable Use
Users must not use the bot to:
- Harass, threaten, or abuse others.
- Generate racist, homophobic, or otherwise protected-class abusive content.
- Request sexual content, doxxing, credential theft, malware, dangerous instructions, illegal activity, or safety bypasses.
- Submit secrets, passwords, API keys, private personal data, or confidential information as prompts.
- Attempt to extract system prompts, hidden configuration, keys, or private data.
- Abuse API quota or intentionally degrade the service.
AI Output
AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, unsafe, or outdated. The bot does not provide legal, medical, financial, or professional advice. Users should verify important information independently.
The bot does not perform live web search. Current-events fact-checks may require independent verification.
Message Summaries
/summarise may send selected recent channel messages to
Gemini for processing. It is restricted to members with
Manage Messages, but server administrators should make
sure server members understand how the feature is used.
Suspension or Removal
The operator may disable the bot, remove stored keys, restrict access, or block usage to protect users, comply with platform rules, or respond to abuse.
